This 25,000 square foot addition and 7,000 square foot renovation project added 15 new classrooms, support areas and a new kitchen. Renovations focused on the existing kitchen, administrative areas and cafeteria. The new building consists of one story of structural metal framing with brick veneer, storefront and metal panels.  Work included new M/E/P systems, new play areas, a parking lot and community activity spaces.

After the very successful renovation of Bliss Hall, Lewis was hired to upgrade Allen-Gates Hall at Lakeside’s upper school.  Work at the building, which dates to 1986, included addition of an elevator, accessibility improvements, addition of a science lab, moving another lab, adding a classroom, upgrading building systems, and a new roof.

  • Project: Epiphany Early Learning Preschool and Daycare

For this Episcopal Church we built an early learning daycare and preschool, converting a former school to be suitable for younger children, including lower casework, restroom fixtures, etc.  We performed structural upgrades and additional MEP upgrades, and built separate play areas for the infant/toddler and preschool groups.  Lewis has performed numerous past projects, such as renovation of the Parish Hall, and conversion of a house into academic and office space for the school.

Lewis extensively restored and updated this high school, a Central District landmark since 1923. Work at the main school building included restoration of the existing historic façade, seismic upgrades, a reconfigured interior. New construction included a an athletic and performing arts center with the addition of the 1,800 seat Quincy Jones Auditorium. This project has won several awards including the AGC of Washington’s Grand Award in 2009 and NAIOP of Washington’s "Public Project of the Year".

Lewis renovated three buildings on this occupied high school campus. The 1930s-era, 24,000 square foot Bliss Hall underwent a major renovation on four floors, including seismic upgrades with new concrete shear walls, new MEP systems, restoration of the existing double-hung windows, new architectural wood doors, and all-new finishes.  Moore Hall, also from the 1930s, received seismic upgrades and patching/repair to match existing.

We performed a phased renovation of this existing private school on First Hill. Work included a three-story, 10,000 square foot addition, and 46,000 square feet of renovations to the entire existing building. The school remained operational outside the work areas year-round.
Lewis won a prestigious Associated General Contractors award in 2007 for Washington's best remodel over $5,000,000.

Lewis provided CM/GC services including excavation and sitework to construct a new high school and three new elementary schools on separate sites in Hillsboro, Oregon. Each school includes free-span gymnasiums, high-tech multi-media centers, full-service kitchens and cafeterias, classrooms and administrative offices. Century High School features athletic fields, a 1,000 seat auditorium and science laboratories. Elementary schools include interactive computer laboratory "pods," covered play areas, acoustically designed music rooms, athletic fields and bus routing areas.

Lewis provided CM/GC services for the construction of two new elementary schools and renovations and additions to two existing schools.  Projects were located on four separate sites in Lebanon, Oregon and were awarded under one contract totaling $24.5 million. New schools include classrooms, administrative space, multi-media rooms and libraries, gymnasiums, commons space and full-service cafeterias.  Extensive daylighting was implemented to maximize energy efficiency.

Lewis converted an existing elementary school into an international school. Phase I involved the addition of 25,000 square feet to house a new cafeteria/commons area, administrative offices, health rooms, study/testing areas and conference rooms. Phase II included a remodel of the existing media center, transformation of the cafeteria into an art classroom, additions of locker rooms, upgrades to hallways and classrooms and conversion of various interior spaces into middle school curricular space. The work was completed while the school remained occupied.

Awards have flowed in for this historic school renovation and addition. Two of the biggest: The AGC of Washington named Lincoln the state's best large remodel in 2008. Lincoln was 2008's national winner of the Shirley Cooper Award from the AIA, CEFPI, and AASA, as the best school design in 2008.

Work included a major renovation of the original 1913 school, totaling 138,000 square feet. We built additions totaling 47,177 square feet, including a new four story library wing and a new three story science wing.
